Question about intramural sports in college?

So here's the thing. I played soccer competitively until I started high school, when I just ran out of time and had to quit (I also practice karate and ride horses, so I really had no time for soccer). Anyway, I would love to play soccer in college next year- it happens to be McGill University in Canada- and they have both intramural soccer and regular varsity soccer. Obviously, as I haven't played soccer in high school, there's no way I can do varsity soccer. However, if I played intramural soccer for a year or two and did well, do you think they would allow me to apply to try out for varsity soccer?
