How to decorate a teen's room.?

Hey. I am turning 13 and redecorating my room for my birthday. I have a bunk bed, a desk, dresser, and book case. I have a window on the back wall and closets on the right side, farther from the window. I have almost bare walls because I have a lot of stuff I am taking down. So, what colors would go good together? I am looking for a teen room, but not too old. I am getting a polka dot bed that is brown and light pinks and purples. On the top bunk, I have a blue design on my comforter. What color should I make my rug? My walls are a really light blue. I was thinking about putting up square shelves and a zigzag desk shelf. They are from Your Zone and I found them on Walmart. What else should I get?
