How to go from being an out-of-province student to an in-province student?

I live in Ontario, and if I choose to go to McGill University in Quebec as an out-of-province student, do I become an in-province student after living there in the summer? And I mean the summer after my first year. Do I return to school as an out-of-province student or become a Quebec resident?
